Started by a cat feeder with a bag always full of food
catadoption_pune began in 2024 as a simple idea: what if there was one trustworthy place in Pune where indie cats could find homes? Not a shelter — a network. A virtual adoption centre run by volunteers who know their rescuers personally.
The founder — a community-cat feeder, TNR advocate, and former BC SPCA foster volunteer — returned to Pune from Canada and found a city full of wonderful cats and very few reliable adoption pathways for them. So she built one.
The mission is unglamorous but important: indie cats, shy cats, and older cats make just as wonderful pets as expensive breeds. Most people just don't know that yet.
catadoption_pune lists and vets cats placed by trusted rescuers across Pune and PCMC. It is not an NGO. It does not operate a shelter or handle urgent rescue cases. What it does — list genuinely good cats and connect them with genuinely good homes.
The network covers Baner, Kothrud, Viman Nagar, Pimple Saudagar, Defence Colony, Kharadi, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhavani Peth, Hadapsar, Vishrantwadi — and wherever else good rescuers operate.
